Soprano Angel Blue makes her Met debut in the highly anticipated role of an Ethiopian princess torn between love and country, one of the opera’s defining roles. Music director Yannick Nézet-Séguin takes the stage in Michael Mayer’s spectacular new production, which uses elaborate projections and dazzling animation to transport audiences to the towering pyramids and gilded tombs of ancient Egypt. Mezzo-soprano Judit Kutasi, following her 2024 debut in Verdi’s La Forza del Destino, is Aida’s Egyptian rival Amneris, while tenor Piotr Beczała takes on the role of the soldier Radamès—completing the opera’s greatest love triangle. The principal cast also includes baritone Quinn Kelsey as Amonasro and bass Dmitry Belosselskiy as Ramfis.
